Graciela, affectionately known as Grace, is no beginner when it comes to storytelling through a culturally responsive lens. Her own bi-lingual chapters began to mirror an undeniable perseverance and showed up in her quest for equitable education and opportunities. Her tenacity landed her in the U.S Air Force, where she traveled the globe as a Captain, was awarded by The White House, and later recorded and published her experiences through the Goodnight Captain Mama series.

Graciela and a special someone, presented as part of We Never Imagined: How to reach kids in the classroom with diverse picture books workshop sponsored by Imagiread

Here lately, Grace launched a fundraising campaign on the popular platform, Kiva to continue the Goodnight Captain Mama series. Kiva’s mission is to expand financial access to help underserved communities thrive by pooling lenders and connecting them to projects that better communities at large. Graciela’s project was funded at a record speed, and she’s going to talk to us about it and how she’s managed to continuously advocate for access to equitable education and opportunities in her community and abroad. We’ll learn all about it and so much more on Sunday, May 16, 2021, at 4:00 PM CST via Facebook LIVE. Join us!
