“Camp Adventure! is a Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation funded summer literacy camp designed to keep at-risk students from falling victim to the summer reading slide, and to keep young minds inspired and engaged.” The Camp is being facilitated by the Houston Area Urban League and includes hands-on literacy, S.T.E.M, music, financial literacy and workforce foundations. More than 800 children from the Houston metropolitan area, grades k-5, were privy to attend this free excursion with the first two-week session happening at Atherton Elementary in the heart of Fifth Ward and the second two-week session happening at Bastian Elementary in Third Ward.
You’ll also see improvements to how the app looks on the inside. The simpler design puts more focus on your photos and videos without changing how you navigate the app.
An incredible opportunity for children, Camp Adventure promises and delivers.
Every day the children are engaged with a variety of instruction and recreation and the models have been developed by the Children’s Museum of Houston, JpMorgan Chase, Price Waterhouse Cooper, Schlumberger and The Houston Symphony. Morning assemblies were conducted by authors and entertainers from a variety of organizations and snacks and meals are provided throughout the day. Parents also got highlights of the program the first day of each camp during Family Literacy Night. It was a fun time indeed. Congratulations to all of the campers. An awesome time it was!
